Even After a Fifth Winter, Spring Is Coming to Buffalo Pound Eco Lodge

There is something about spring on the prairie that feels especially earned.

Yesterday, Buffalo Pound was covered in snow again. Another blizzard. Another reminder that spring in Saskatchewan does not always arrive gently.

But today felt different.

By midday it was 12°C. The snow was melting fast. Water was running down the hill. Green grass was peeking through in patches. The crocuses from our last post were still there, poking through

the snow like little reminders that spring keeps coming, even when winter tries one more time.

Above us, sandhill cranes flew overhead. Pelicans circled. The whole landscape felt like it was waking up again.

Even though it feels like we are on our fifth winter, spring is coming to Buffalo Pound Eco Lodge.

And honestly, that is one of the things we love most about this place.

Spring here is not polished or predictable. It arrives in layers. In signs. In small moments you notice if you are paying attention. Melting snow. Running water. Returning birds. Grass showing through. The kind of change that does not happen all at once, but still feels undeniable.

That is the beauty of the prairie.

At Buffalo Pound Eco Lodge, this is the season where everything starts to shift. The air softens. The days get longer. The lake starts calling people back outside. Even after a storm, you can feel the season turning.

It is also when people start thinking about the kind of summer they want.

Not the rushed kind. Not the overpacked kind. The kind with slower mornings, easy evenings, meals outside, time by the fire, and space to actually enjoy where you are.

That is what we have built Buffalo Pound Eco Lodge around.

Our tipi cabins offer the comfort people want, with the outdoor experience they are craving. Each stay includes a private bathroom, a screened outdoor kitchen and dining space, a private firepit, and thoughtful details designed to help guests settle in and feel at ease. It is nature, but easier. Slower. More comfortable. More meaningful.

For guests who want more than just a place to sleep, Buffalo Pound Eco Lodge offers a different kind of getaway. One rooted in open skies, prairie beauty, and the kinds of details that make a stay feel memorable.

May brings that fresh start feeling. June brings green hills and longer evenings. July and August bring lake days, warm nights, and the kind of summer memories people talk about afterward.

If you have been thinking about a getaway this year, now is the time to book.

Because this season is coming, even after one more blast of snow.

The cranes know it. The pelicans know it. The crocuses know it.

And standing here watching the snow melt into running water, we know it too.

Spring is coming to Buffalo Pound Eco Lodge, and we are now booking for May, June, July, and August.

If you are craving a peaceful Saskatchewan getaway with comfort, nature, and room to truly slow down, we would love to welcome you.

Book your stay at Buffalo Pound Eco Lodge.
